A MYSTERY bird-feeding lady has helped a British photographer scoop an international prize.
The quirky and typically-British habit of bird-feeding in the local park has been skilfully captured by Brighton-based photographer, Clive Frost.
Dressed in a thick coat, hat and yellow carrier bag full of food for her bird companions who flock around her this lady with a pram certainly cuts a powerful image.
“I spotted the lady across the road surrounded by the seagulls,” said Clive.
“They were attracted by the food she was feeding them and went over to take the photograph.
“The birds are crowding all around her, some were waiting patiently but expectantly on the ground and others circling the lady,
“The gulls were constantly landing and then taking off again in their excited quest to get some of the food.
Clive now wants to track down the subject of his photograph, who he only knows as “Laura” to thank her for taking part.
“I always ask people if they mind if I take their picture,” said Clive.
“I did also chat to her after taking the picture, but she was reluctant to tell me much about herself and would only give me her first name, Laura, which is why I gave the image that title.
“The competition is called ‘One Shot: The City’ and is organised by the International Photography Awards in Los Angeles, California.
“I was awarded 1st Place in the People category, which was fantastic.
“I felt extremely honoured that the image was recognised by my peers in such a prestigious photography organisation.”
