lion and tiger friends
These cute cat cubs love to mix it up while cuddling together in this kitten play pen. Mohlatsi the open-minded white lion cub loves spending time with his tiger cub friends as these heart warming images show.  Pictured during the South African summer, Mohlatsi's gang included tiger cubs Ajanta and Chilka cubs and white tiger cubs Bage and Bengali at the Ranch Resort near Polokwane in South Africa. Now all the tiger cubs have been sent to Mauritius to start a new life.   Ranch manager, Paul Shearer, 27 - whose family has owned and run the ranch for three generations - has heart warming memories of the different species of great cat cubs all playing together. "They all loved mucking in together," explained Paul. "When they're that age it doesn't matter what you put in with them - they'll play with it. "They can't see the difference between a stripe or a spot or a dog - anything. "They don't care about colour or any other way of discriminating. "They have a play camp they live in with tires and toys to play with. "They all joined in together just like kids. "Because of the way he grew up with different species he is quite multicultural - a great symbol for South Africa." Like a human child playing innocently with his friends, the cuddly male lion eventually had to say good bye to his tiger pals a few weeks ago - who were in quarantine with him in the South African ranch before they were sent to a wildlife park in Mauritius. "The tiger cubs were a big part of Mohlatsi's life," said Paul. "Three months may not seem like long - but for him it's like he's grow up with them. "When they left he was on his own for a few weeks - he was a bit lost during this time as he had no-one to play with. "He was lonely because he used to have all that interaction and then he was left by himself. "But after that the female cubs arrived - his future pride - and he seems to be much happier now." Once Mohlatsi is old enough he will become a "walking lion". Paul's ranch is the only one in the world where humans can walk in the forest beside fully grown lions. There are other ranches in Africa that allow humans to walk beside juvenile six month old lions - but only Paul's lions are friendly enough to walk with people when they are adults. The 1000 hectare Ranch Resort is located 20 miles north of Johannesburg on the way to Kruger National Park. As well as great cats it is home to giraffe, zebra, warthog, kudu, impala and wildebeest. The Ranch Resort plays host to over 200 species of birds.
