this koala is called Kajika, he’s a six year old male and was rescued on 10th November 2019 after being out on the firegrounds since 18th October. He was on his last legs, with burned paws and nose, dehydrated and suffering from smoke inhalation. He was named Kajika because it means ‘Walk without Sound’ in Native American Indian, and this koala was known for silently scaling huge areas without detection. He has been rehabilitated by the IFAW-sponsored vet nurse Marley Christian at the Friends of the Koala, and today if conditions are right, he will be released back into the wild
