These beetles look like their having the time of their lives. But rather than engaging in some romantic dirty dancing, these male beetles are in fact in a fierce fight for females. While the victor wins a mate, the loser is thrown from the tree in the tussle. The battling beetles were photographed by Russian entrepreneur Evgeniy Melnikov. The 31-year-old, from Voronezh, said: These beetles have their breeding season in June or July, and usually gather in groups near deep cracks on the bark of old oaks.
