As a flock of the flamingos gathered in Lake Elementaita in Kenya, the flat surface of the water perfectly reflected the sky above, and hundreds of birds appeared to be standing in the sky. And having been disturbed by movement from above, they took off in large formations, leaving patterns of ripples trailing them in the lake. The scene was captured by 63-year-old German wildlife photographer Ingo Gerlach, from a hot air balloon above the water.
