By Jasmine Marsh These stunning images show adorable monkeys cuddling and playing in the snow. The fluffy primates, known as Japanese macaque, can be seen enjoying themselves cuddling, making snow balls and bathing in the hot springs. Office worker Kiyoshi Ookawa snapped the cheeky monkeys in Jigokudani Hot Spring Park in Nagano, Japan. A popular tourist destination, people flock to get a glimpse of the beautiful creatures. He spends his spare time engaging his hobby as a photographer around the region. The 48-year-old said the park is in the heart of the mountains with many hot springs and snow monkeys. The monkeys have brown and grey fur, with red faces and short tails. They are the most northern living primates in the world, with the exception of humans. They reside on three of the four Japanese, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. Kiyoshi said: "I really like these beautiful almost human-like animals, especially the playing babies. "In Japan, they are known as Nihonzaru, to distinguish them from other primates. "But Japanese macaque is very similar monkey in Japan, so when Japanese people simply say Saru, they usually have in mind the Japanese macaque. "I'm really pleased with the way the photos came out, I think they really capture the human-esque personalities of the monkeys. "I hope to return and take more photographs of them in the future."
